Our Story
Good People Recreation Therapy began with a simple belief that people thrive when they feel connected, valued, and included. My journey started in 2018 where working in community care and adult day programs, quickly taught me how meaningful it is for seniors to have barrier free participation in their communities. I saw firsthand that when life changes in ways sometimes unimaginable, staying connected to familiar people, places, routines, and activities can make an incredible difference. I began to understand that recreation is about so much more than filling time. Recreation can create purpose, build confidence, spark joy, and open doors to relationships and belonging.
In 2024 I continued my education in Recreation Therapy, with a growing desire to encourage people to stay connected and engaged in the communities they call home. I wanted to find meaningful ways to support people in continuing to do the things they enjoy, discovering new interests, and maintaining the relationships that matter most. January 2025, Good People RT became my way of stepping into the world of private practice. By offering one on one sessions with seniors and the occasional creative workshop within the community. Along the way, I had the opportunity to teach at both primary and high school levels. My passion for connection grew beyond seniors. I found myself embracing intergenerational programming, connecting families and children with activities that allowed them to discover their strengths, and shine. These experiences shaped the vision for Good People RT.
